About Hodge
My name is “Matthew”, but everyone knows me as Hodge.
My weight loss fight started back in mid 2006…
The Wake-up Call
I had a blood test done as I was constantly feeling tired and sluggish. The blood test came back that I had high-cholesterol, at the age of 20. It was the same level of cholesterol in my body as someone in their mid 30’s. This came as somewhat a surprise to me, I didn’t realize until that moment that I was fat and terribly unhealthy.
Why Did I Become So Fat / Unhealthy?
Well it was pretty simple really. Way to much alcohol consumption, too much fast food, and no exercise what so ever. Until my blood test I didn’t ever really take any notice. I was never really overly healthy in my life, but especially not as overweight and unhealthy as I was in 2006.
Images Of Progress Before Blogging
Here are some images from before I started this blog, in the years leading up to now.

As you can see, there has been a big improvement. To get myself to this point I wasn’t drinking as much as I had done, not eating as many bad foods. I was doing HIIT runs for 15 minutes in the mornings 3-4 times a week and occasionally doing some random dumb bell exercises, but not really keeping track of progress or anything. In losing this weight, I have now lowered my cholesterol to acceptable/safe levels.
The New Goal
As my weight loss goal had been reached, I thought, why stop there. My new goals:
- To be “ripped”
- Keep my cholesterol low or make it lower
- Feel 100% confident at the beach.. I want to take my shirt off and people be like “oooo”
